Frequently Asked Questions
What is Zipstory?
Zipstory is your town, in real time. People nearby share what's happening through four kinds of posts: Spotted (something happening or worth knowing), Review (an honest take on a local business), Ask (a question for people who know the area), and Moment (a slice of local life). Every community post is connected to a real place and submitted by a real person.
What phones does Zipstory work on?
Zipstory is on iPhone today, available on the App Store. Android is on our roadmap.
Is my real name shown?
No — you post under a username. Your username lets you participate without displaying your full real name publicly. Choose one that doesn't contain personal details, and remember that anything shared on a local public feed may still reveal information about you.
Why does every post need a location?
Zipstory is built around real places. Requiring a location connects every post to the right local context, keeps the feed relevant, and helps other Zipsters understand where something is happening.
Does AI write posts on Zipstory?
No post is created or published by AI on its own. Every community post is reviewed and submitted by a real person. Zipstory may offer an optional, clearly labeled suggestion — you can use it, edit it, ignore it, dictate your own words, or write something entirely different. Nothing is ever posted on your behalf, and community posts are never scraped or imported from other platforms.
How do cashback rewards work for community users?
Businesses on Zipstory offer cashback rewards. In the Rewards tab you reserve a reward, which holds it for you for up to 4 hours while you visit. Make a qualifying purchase with the debit card of the bank account you securely connected, and verification happens automatically — no receipts, no forms. Once your bank confirms the purchase (usually within a few hours), 65% of your reward unlocks; sharing a post about your visit unlocks the remaining 35%. Posting is optional — you still get cashback without it.
Earned rewards land in your in-app wallet, and you send them to your bank whenever you like: standard payout is free (1–2 business days), or choose instant for a 1% fee.
Reward amounts, percentages, timing, eligibility, and rules are subject to change.
What are ZP points?
ZP points recognize community participation — posting, answering, and being a helpful local. They power leaderboards and badges. ZP points have no cash value, and how they're earned and used is subject to change.
Does Zipstory cost anything?
Zipstory is free for community members. Businesses pay for business tools through subscription plans — see the Zipstory Business site for details. Business subscription fees and reward offerings are subject to change.
Can a business pay for a good review?
No. Zipstory may reward eligible participation, but no business can require, purchase, or reward a positive review — and rewards never depend on giving a certain rating or saying something favorable. Reviews on Zipstory are the poster's genuine experience.
How long do posts stay visible?
Community posts remain eligible for the live feed for at least 12 hours, though their visibility can change with time, distance, relevance, and activity. You can always revisit your own posts under My Posts in your Profile.
How do I report something?
Use the report option on any post or profile in the app. Reports are reviewed by Zipstory, and human reviewers make final enforcement decisions. In urgent or high-risk situations, content may be temporarily limited while it's being reviewed. You can also email support@zipstory.com with "Report" in the subject line.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Settings → Request Account Removal. You can also email support@zipstory.com and we'll help.
